Tommy Fleetwood has confirmed his participation in the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid, which will take place at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from 26 to 29 September.
“I’m looking forward to being back at the Acciona Open de España presented by Madrid this September”, said Fleetwood. “It’s a city I love to visit, and the atmosphere at Club de Campo a couple of years ago with the Spanish fans was incredible. It’s always special to compete in historic tournaments and I’m excited to experience that again and hopefully play some great golf.”
The Englishman, one of the biggest names on the DP World Tour for over a decade, who teed it up at the Open de España in 2022, recently enjoyed a spectacular Olympic Games in Paris, where he claimed the silver medal with a stunning performance.
The ever-smiling Tommy Fleetwood is one of the most popular golfers among players and fans alike, with his positive outlook and stylish game, which has earned him one win on the Challenge Tour and seven wins on the DP World Tour. With three Ryder Cup appearances, he has a record of 7 wins, 3 halves and just 2 defeats which includes the performance in 2018 where he and partner Francesco Molinari made history by winning all four of their matches at Le Golf National.
The English player won his first professional title at the Kazakhstan Open in 2011 on the Challenge Tour. Having earned his DP World Tour card, his first victory on Europe’s principal circuit came in 2013, at the Johnnie Walker Championships in Gleneagles, Scotland. Four years would then pass before his next win at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in 2017, and he has been synonymous with success ever since, with victories at the 2017 Open de France, the 2018 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the Nedbank Golf Challenge in 2019 and 2022, the 2024 Dubai Invitational and his recent silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
