Joaquín Mollinedo, Director General of Institutional Relations, Sustainability and Brand at Acciona will announce the introduction of three prizes that will be presented to the top three players at the end of the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid in order to raise their awareness of climate change and the tournament’s commitment to sustainability.
“These prizes consist in measuring the CO2 emissions of the first three players for one year from their travel, accommodation and sports activities, and multiplying them by 10, 6 or 4 years, according to their finishing position. The result of the multiplication will be the emissions that Acciona promises to compensate during that time, meaning that the three players will be the only ones that effectively emit zero CO2 in the course of their sporting activity,” explained Mollinedo.
It is yet another example of the commitment of this tournament’s main sponsor to combatting climate change and raising the awareness of all those present that sustainability allows us to live in a better world.
The prizes will be presented on Sunday, after the conclusion of the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid, when we will know who the three players are that will be under par for their CO2 emissions for the next few years.
