The Englishman’s impressive resume includes one major, three Ryder Cup victories and an Olympic gold medal
Justin Rose has added his name to the field for the ACCIONA Open de España, which will be held at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from October 6-9. The field currently includes another former No. 1 player, and current 5th-ranked player, Jon Rahm.
Rose has complied numerous victories throughout his notable career, highlighted by one major, three Ryder Cup victories (2012, 2014 and 2018), eleven DP World Tour titles and twelve more titles on the PGA Tour, as well as an Olympic gold at the 2016 Rio Games. He was named the world’s No.1 golfer in September of 2018, spent eight seasons among the world’s Top 10 and is currently ranked 50th in the world.
A competitive player during his time as an amateur, Rose’s natural talent produced career-defining moments amongst his peers. These decorated accomplishments enabled him to capture the Carris and McGregor Trophies at the amateur level, which gave him the confidence to turn professional at 17-years old, just one day after finishing fourth at The Open Championship. In 2002, he began to establish himself as one of the strongest players on the tour finishing atop the leaderboard at both the Dunhill Championship and the British Masters.
As his career progressed, Rose saw consistent success and captured nine more wins – three of them on the PGA Tour, where he predominantly played after turning professional – which made international headlines and set him apart on his way to reaching the pinnacle of the world rankings. Other career victories include 2007 Volvo Masters, the 2012 WGC – Cadillac Championship, the 2017 WGC – HSBC Champions and, above all the 2013 US Open, his first major. Other impressive major performances came when he finished second at the 2015 and 2017 US Masters, third at the PGA Championship in 2012 and fourth at the 1998 Open Championship.
