His walk down the 18th fairway flying the Spanish flag at last year’s tournament not having ended in victory, Nacho Elvira comes to the Open de España keen to win over the fans in the final round once more.
Expectations are high. Elvira has been in the top three twice this season; first at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, where he shared second with a large group of players that included Jorge Campillo. A few days later, at the Maybank Championship, the Madrid native finished second on his own. A top-ten finish at the Hero Indian Open would complete a spectacular month of March for the Spaniard.
With these results under his belt, Nacho Elvira will certainly be worth keeping an eye on in a week in which he will be in the same group of Chinese player Ashun Wu and the South African Dean Burmester in the first two rounds.
