The DP World Tour season is now entering its final stretch, and with just five tournaments left, there is still plenty on the line for the immediate future of many players. Those that are looking to keep hold of their cards are used to the nerves jangling at this point of the year, however, this season the DP World Tour is giving the top 10 finishers in the race rights to play on the PGA Tour, as long as they do not already hold a card for the US circuit.
This means that the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid will play a huge role in the final ranking. Of the 10 players that would currently obtain that prize, four will be teeing it up at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid: Victor Perez, Joost Luiten, Yannick Paul and Thorbjorn Olesen.
Of those four, the best-situated is Frenchman Victor Perez, who currently lies in fourth place, while the other three occupy eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively. Therefore, they will be looking to put in some solid performances in Madrid to consolidate their position in the Race to Dubai.
However, the rest of the field will not be making it easy for them; most of those occupying 11th to 25th in the ranking will be competing at the ACCIONA Open de España. Spaniards Jorge Campillo and Pablo Larrazábal have one of those ten 2024 PGA Tour cards in their sights, but they will need a good result in Madrid to ensure they have a place in the grand finale in Dubai, where everything will be decided.
As if you needed any more incentives to enjoy this spectacular ACCIONA Open de España, the future of many players is at stake, and Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will play a key role in determining their fates.
